چکیده

This paper is aimed at presenting a new virtual camera model which can ef!ciently model refraction through "at housings in underwater photography. The key idea is to employ a pixel-wise virtual focal length concept to encode the refractive projection inside the "at housing. The radiallysymmetric structure of the varifocal length around the normal of the housing surface allows us to encode the refractive projection with a compact representation. We show that this model realizes an ef!cient forward projection computation and a linear extrinsic calibration in water. Evaluations using synthesized and real data demonstrate the performance quantitatively and qualitatively.

Underwater 3D Surface Capture Using Multi-view Projectors and Cameras with Flat Housings

This paper is aimed at realizing a practical image-based 3D surface capture system of underwater objects. Image-based 3D shape acquisition of objects in water has a wide variety of academic and industrial applications because of its non-contact and non-invasive sensing properties. For example, 3D shape capture of fertilized eggs and young fish can provide a quantitative evaluation method for li...

New approach for calibration of pixelated scintillation detectors of intraoperative gamma cameras

Introduction:SURGEOSIGHT is a dedicated intra-operative hand-held gamma camera designed and manufactured by our team to be used for lymphoscintigraphy. Although conventional gamma cameras are widely used, they lack the capability of the sentinel lymph node (SLN) imaging in the operation room. Like conventional gamma cameras it is necessary to calibrate SURGEOSIGHT for linearity...

Refractive Plane Sweep for Underwater Images

In underwater imaging, refraction changes the geometry of image formation, causing the perspective camera model to be invalid. Hence, a systematic model error occurs when computing 3D models using the perspective camera model. This paper deals with the problem of computing dense depth maps of underwater scenes with explicit incorporation of refraction of light at the underwater housing. It is a...

Refractive Projection and Ray Tracing

Multi-cameras system is widely applied in 3D computer vision especially when multiple 11 cameras are distributed on both sides of the measured object. The calibration methods of multi12 cameras system are critical to the accuracy of vision measurement and the key is to find an 13 appropriate calibration target. In this paper, a high-precision camera calibration method for multi14 cameras system...

Underwater 3D Reconstruction Based on Physical Models for Refraction and Underwater Light Propagation

In recent years, underwater imaging has gained a lot of popularity partly due to the availability of off-the-shelf consumer cameras, but also due to a growing interest in the ocean floor by science and industry. Apart from capturing single images or sequences, the application of methods from the area of computer vision has gained interest as well. However, water affects image formation in two m...
